The game started with a fast first quarter with Charlie Brown taking the first five points and P’tak following up with a monster jam. This set the pace and Reece, Pope, Jake and Naz all scored in the first quarter, with Charlie leading with 7 points, ending with a lead of 8 points: 17 – 25 to Derby.

The 2nd quarter saw some unfavourable decisions by the refs and despite a steady stream of shots by all players on court York pulled back to finish the quarter just 2 points behind at 40 – 42.

In the 3rd quarter the pace and tension was ramped up a notch, with P’tak, Pope Naz and Charlie scoring steadily but with Jake taking the lead in scoring with a three, and an early lay-up. Supporters watched with bated breath as Charlie got his 4th foul, then a block from P’tak ends the 3rd quarter on a nail-biting 58 all.

The 4th quarter was a tense end to end; Naz scored two; then Pope, followed up by a three, then a 2 from Naz, followed by a 2 from Charlie; then with 4.9 seconds to go Naz gets a basket which is disallowed, and the quarter ends at 71 all; and the game goes into overtime.

The first 2 points in overtime goes to York, quickly followed by Charlie getting an ‘and-1’ and a free throw. The Blazers then go up to 6th gear; Naz, Ptak and Charlie all score 2 points each, then Reece scores a three followed by 2 from Naz. Then a monster dunk from P’tak and a 2 pointer from Jake seals the game with a final score of 79 – 93.
