U14 Boys: Having a fantastic season so far (Plus match report)

Coach Colin Henderson: Having been asked!! to coach the Under 14 Boys this season, I said "adieu" to last years U16's who are now playing U18 Conference.

Blazers LOGO No TagI left them in Kyle's capable hands and joined the U14's one week before their first game. The first training session didn't go according to plan and we stepped on the court at home, the players proved they play better than they train and it was a result I wasn't expecting!

However they are now beginning to understand the work ethos expected in training
The players have a long way to go, but are capable of beating all the teams in the Nations smallest league. They are beginning to understand the reasoning behind the training sessions and what is expected of them both on and off the court.

They are evolving into a difficult "team" to beat and as we have players of 11, 12 and 13 on the court at the same time and all players getting court time. The U14's are in a better place than at the start of the season and although there is still a long way to go with all these players, but things are boding well for the game here in Derby.

Mansfield Giants - 68
Derby Trailblazers - 90

Jake Woodroffe Bird: "In the 1st and 2nd quarters we were playing how 'they' wanted us to play, as the hosts went up at half time. So we all upped our game and played our way back in to it.

In the 3rd we played how Trailblazers U14's should play, with pride and passion.
Then before we knew it, we were up and playing harder defence. I hit a hotly contested 3-pointer in the 4th quarter and the bench went crazy.

In the end we won with tight defence from the whole team. So proud!"
