We once again held our 6-week introduction to basketball sessions, which proved a success and have attracted new players to our U14 & U16 programmes.
In addition, we also held the first ever Derby Trailblazer Girls Basketball Camp, a 4-day event held at Repton School. We had 19 girls attend and the girls improved vastly during the week and we believe the team bonding achieved will prove crucial in the season ahead.
We had a large representation within Derbyshire teams as well as at the U13 regional tournament where 4 of our girls represented the East Midlands. Well done Neve, Kerys, Tash and Katie J. Their success and performance has been key in helping raise the profile of the club.
All of the above has put us in a good position for the season ahead, we expect to have some real depth to our squads this year. It is a real honour and a privilege to oversee and coach such a hard working group of players, but the hard work has really only just begun. We look forward to challenging ourselves against some of the most established clubs in the country this year and strive to continue the development of girls’ basketball in Derby.
We would like to welcome on board Andy Josephs & Matt Coleman who will be coaching the U16 Girls and John Marvill who will be supporting myself and Dave Marvill with the U14 Girls. We also welcome Jayne Issatt and Claire Smith as U14/U16 Team Managers they will be supported and overseen by Tracey Mousley.
Finally, a huge thank you to Dave Williams and the Orchard Nursery who have kindly sponsored our new kit.
We again look forward to a season of nurturing solid foundations that will allow our players to enjoy a long and successful future in the game.
Thanks in advance for all your support this season.
